Our Congregations

The Maine Conference of the United Church of Christ (UCC) consists of nearly 150 congregations with vibrant ministries of welcome, witness, and community engagement. We have several congregations with histories stretching back into the 18th century and one brand new to us in 2021! Our congregations all serve their communities in varying, but impactful ways. From food banks to fuel assistance and from gathering spaces to immigration assistance, our congregations are helping do their part to make Maine a more welcoming, connected, and vital place.

Associations

Associations are a group of congregations and church leaders who work together on Authorized Ministry and live in connection to support each other’s ministry. The work of Associations mostly includes licensing, ordination, and pastoral oversight of licensed, commissioned, and ordained ministers. Associations are just one setting of the wider UCC, ministering in collaboration with local churches, the Maine Conference, and the national setting.
