State Street Church is seeking a Christian Education (CE) Coordinator for children’s Christian Education for ages 4 – 11. The position will be 3-5 hours per week involving shared responsibility with the Pastor for the Sunday morning Children’s Moment during the service and primary responsibility for teaching Kids’ Church during the remainder of the service. The CE Coordinator reports to the Christian Education Committee and the Pastor.
Responsibilities
-Review the provided curriculum to be able to teach the lessons on Sunday mornings.
-Set up the Sunday school room by 9:45 AM on Sunday mornings and prepare materials for the lesson.
-Be ready to receive children after Children’s Time.
-Attend worship until Children’s Time to ease the transition from worship to the classroom.
-Walk with the children from worship to the Sunday school room
-Engage the children in Godly play through creative story exploration, and otherwise provide a happy, wholesome experience to teach the curriculum.
-Monitor the condition of facilities, equipment, and supplies and alert the Christian Education Committee with needs or concerns.
-Comply and execute State Street Church’s Safe Church Policy
Qualifications
-Background and/or equivalent experience in a Progressive Christian community
-Prior experience working with elementary-age children, preferably in a church or classroom setting.
Able to relate to our diversity of ages, races, ethnicities, socio-economic circumstances, neurodivergence, and LGBTQIA orientations
-Organizational skills and punctuality, ability to envision new ways of reaching our children and families
-Must pass a background check and be CPR & First Aid certified, or willing to seek certification upon employment (time and materials to become certified may be compensated).
Benefits
-$150/week for 3 weeks per month from mid-August to mid-June
-No responsibility from mid-June to mid-August
