A Message From the Dean

Dear Friends of the Maine School of Ministry (MESOM),

MESOM currently offers affordable fall and spring courses taught by highly qualified faculty which are designed for adult students who are exploring their own spiritual formation, exploring a call to ministry, as well as ordained clergy seeking quality continuing education.

MESOM is open to all persons seeking spiritual and educational and enrichment. In addition, as both the vision and reach of MESOM expands, shorter courses and workshops will be offered in collaboration with other organizations, local churches, and other justice seeking groups here in Maine and beyond.

Please feel free to contact me directly for further conversation abut MESOM. I’m always excited to hear about your interests and your ideas about possibilities for future offerings.  My email is rbaard@maineucc.org

Many blessings,

The Rev. Dr. Ron Baard, Dean

Course Description:

This is a special course in pastoral and spiritual care and counseling
emphasizing mental health concerns. The COVID era we are living in has
highlighted these issues in a new way. The pastor or chaplain or pastoral
counselor must develop abilities to work as a team with other advocates for
good mental health for care seekers. Good referral skills are important and will
be discussed in the class. Students will use the Case Study method to deepen
their understanding and skill set in this area.
