Friendship and Mission Trip 2010

This good-will and mission trip will visit our partner church, the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Honduras and its projects: particularly working with a local church and youth group in the San Pedro Sula area.

This trip will be for the young people from grades 9 – Post High travelling with advisors on a 1 – 3 ratio. We will all be living together as a total community of 20 - 30 people in San Pedro Sula.

These are the preliminary details as we now know them.

The cost of the trip will be $1125.00. per person. This includes:

Round-trip flight from Boston to San Pedro Sula on American Airlines.

All accommodation for eight nights, including one in Casa de la Cafe in Copan

Ground transportation to be arranged by our Partners in Honduras

Breakfast each morning at our hotels

Lunch and water taken with us each day from San Pedro or our resort location

Dinner nightly at different restaurants in San Pedro or Copan or with our partner church

Transfers from the airport.

Any medications or medical attention required while abroad.

The Mandatory Retreat at Pilgrim Lodge from August 25 - 28, 2009

You will have a space once we have received a non-refundable $250.00 deposit made payable to Maine Conference U.C.C. and the reservation form. Medical forms and further information will be available as soon as the hotels and airlines confirm with us. Please read these materials very carefully - know what you are responsible for and when the deadlines are.

Travelling internationally we have no flexibility.

Timeline to the trip:

As soon as possible please register for the mandatory retreat for all trip

participants which will take place at Pilgrim Lodge from August 25 – 28, 2009

Friday, July 31st, Deadline for receipt of $250.00 deposit and reservation forms.

Sunday, October 4, 3:00 PM – Mandatory meeting for travel group.

Sunday, December 6, 3:00 PM - Mandatory meeting for travel group

All those under 21 must be accompanied by a parent.

Sunday, December 6 - Date for payment of all balances. After this date there can be no changes of plans.This amount is not refundable - get travel

cancelation insurance for your own protection.

***Important - Read this next note very carefully***

By Sunday, December 6 all passport numbers for the travel group

MUST be in the hands of the group leaders for airline purposes.

Sunday, January 10 - Meeting of the travel group. One of these may be cancelled

Sunday, January 31 - Meeting of the travel group but save them in case of snow.

Wednesday, February 10 – Gather and overnight in Windham to pack.

Thursday, February 11 - Leave from Boston Arrival in San Pedro Sula mid day

Friday to Monday – In San Pedro Sula with our partner church working on a mission project. Joined by the youth from the partner church and other young people from around the Evangelical and Reformed Church. On Sunday we will take a day trip to the coast to view the banana plantations and to swim in the ocean. That evening we will join a local church for worship.

Tuesday to Wednesday – Overnight in Copan and exploration of the Mayan Ruins

Wednesday night – Back to San Pedro Sula and final dinner with our new friends

Thursday, February 18 - Departure San Pedro Sula Back to Boston – late arrival

It will be necessary for you to arrange to miss school on Thursday, Feb. 11th and Friday, February 12th, or any other days which are not part of your February school vacation.

This form and the accompanying $250.00 non-refundable deposit reserve one place in the travel group of the Maine Conference Youth Trip to Honduras from February 11-18, 2010.

I acknowledge that reservation for the trip to Honduras is on a first come, first served basis and that until I receive a confirmation letter I cannot assume that I have a place. I realize that this form which is due by Friday, July 31st stands as a commitment to take part in the above trip and as such means that I will also register for the Mandatory Retreat at Pilgrim Lodge from August 25 – 28, 2009. The accompanying deposit is non-refundable and is also due by July 31, 2009 It will be credited to the total price of the trip which is still to be determined. I also understand that I am responsible for securing a valid U.S passport which will not expire until at least 2012 and any visas as may be necessary.

Transportation for the trip will be by Delta or Continental Airlines and by buses while in Honduras, or by vans or other vehicles driven by adults over 21 years of age. All meals and lodging are included in the to be determined trip price. However, travel insurance and cancellation insurance and all items of a personal nature are not included.
