The Honduras Partnership Committee of the Maine Conference is planning a trip for young people in grades 9 – 12 and their advisors to Honduras in February of 2012. This multi-faceted trip will include a work project for a partner church in La Masica, a village in the orange plantations near the coast of the Caribbean, a chance to meet young people from Honduras at a fiesta day in San Pedro Sula at the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Honduras Mission Compound, an opportunity to understand the great Mayan culture of Honduras through a visit to the ruins in Copan, and times of fellowship with other young people from across the Maine Conference.

We are looking forward to all sorts of activities when we go to Honduras. Our mission work project will be working on the church in La Masica, probably putting down a floor or building a fence around their property. We hope to make one or two trips up to the coast to Tela, a beach where we will be able to swim in the Caribbean. We will see the orange and banana plantations and meet with the workers who live in the village and attend the church. In San Pedro Sula we will have a chance to visit the craft market.

The trip will cost $1300 per person, youth or advisor. The trip is on a first come, first served basis and will be limited to 30 participants. You will have a place once you receive a confirmation letter, which will be sent upon receipt of the Reservation Form and a non-refundable deposit of $250. The deadline for these forms is November 1st.
