
David R Gaewski, Conference Minister
David
R Gaewski (Guy-es'-key) resides in Readfield, Maine. He holds an M.Div. from
Andover Newton Theological School and a B.S. from UCONN, Storrs, CT. Further
he has completed three units of Post Graduate studies in Bowen Family Systems
Theory. He also studied for one year at ISEDET, an ecumenical seminary in Buenos
Aires, Argentina. He has received Continuing Education Units from Princeton
Seminary in the area of Youth Ministry.
Prior to accepting this position in Maine in 1997, David served for three years
as a
UCBWM missionary in northeast Brazil and has ten years of parish pastor experience
serving churches in Vermont and Virginia. He provides staff support to the Cumberland,
York and Aroostook Association Church and Ministry Committees.. David also lends
staff support to the following Conference committees: Personnel Committee, Outdoor
Ministries, Finance Committee, Communications Committee and Honduras Committee.
He also serves as a Board Member on the Executive Council of the United Church
of Christ representing the Council of Conference Ministers and is a member of
the Make a Difference/Brown Scholarship Committee.
In recent years he has visited UCC mission sites in Turkey, Mozambique, and
South Africa, as well as annually in Honduras. He is fluent in Portuguese and
Spanish. David teaches two courses at Bangor Theological Seminary: “UCC Polity
and Practice” and “The History and Theology of the United Church of Christ.”
David is married to Sueli Alves da Costa Gaewsky, a Brazilian native. They have
three children: Emily, Lyvia, and Chase. His hobbies include writing, cooking,
Cocker Spaniels, flower gardening, computers, and handbell ringing.
