RECOMMENDED
BYLAW AMENDMENTS
ARTICLE VII. COORDINATING COUNCIL.
1.
Membership and Election.
(a) The Coordinating Council
("Council") shall be
the Board of Directors. It shall
consist of:
1)
The
Moderator, Vice Moderator, Clerk, and Treasurer;
2)
The
chairs of the Finance Committee and the Personnel Committee;
3)
One (1)
member appointed annually from and by each commission;
4)
One (1)
member elected annually from and by the State Youth Council or its successor;
5)
One (1)
member appointed annually from and by the Board of Trustees of the Maine
Conference;
6)
One (1)
member elected from and by each association for a three-year term; and,
7)
Four
(4) at-large delegates elected by the Conference at the Annual Meeting for
three-year terms.
8) The immediate past Moderator for a
two-year term.
ARTICLE IX. STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE CONFERENCE.
1. Nominating
Committee. There shall be a Nominating Committee consisting of six (6)
members, two (2) of whom shall be elected each year for a three-year term,
together with the Conference Minister(s) as a member ex-officio. The immediate past Moderator shall serve as chair of the
committee and for a two-year term. After the Annual Meeting of
the Conference, the committee shall meet and elect a chair from its two senior
members. A majority shall constitute a quorum. This committee shall
nominate all officers, at large Coordinating
Council and Commission members, Commission
Chairs, and Standing Committees of the Conference whose
nomination or appointment is not otherwise provided for; all delegates to corresponding
bodies and all members of national societies in which the Conference is
entitled to representation; but nominations for all these positions may also be
made from the floor. No nominations made from the floor shall be in order,
however, until the consent of the nominee has been obtained.

ARTICLE VII. COORDINATING COUNCIL.
4) Powers and Duties.
(a) The Council shall have authority and responsibility of the Conference between annual meetings. Among its areas of responsibility shall be: finance; search committees; management of properties, including the purchase, sale, mortgage and lease of real estate other than real estate held in trust; stewardship concerns; communications, public relations and marketing; personnel; administrative support; long-range planning and evaluation; policy; and the Maine Ministerial Relief Society.
ARTICLE VIII. BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
2. Duties.
The duties of said Trustees shall be to receive, hold, manage, sell, exchange,
invest and reinvest, all trust and endowment funds, and income therefrom, or
trust property which may be acquired by the Conference. The said Trustees are
authorized to do all things necessary and appropriate to carry out the duties
assigned to them including the sale and transfer of registered securities and
the purchase, sale, mortgage and lease of real
estate held in trust by
the Conference.
