2002 Annual Meeting Resolution

Resolution Regarding the Iraq Crisis
Be it resolved that,
---as disciples of Jesus Christ,
---as patriots loyal to the United States of America
---as delegates to the Maine Conference of the United Church of Christ gathered at its Annual Meeting on September 29, 2002, and
---as global citizens
We are opposed to any pre-emptive or unilateral military strike on Iraq;
We support the efforts of the United Nations to effect a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Iraq; and
We call upon President Bush and our elected officials to work internationally to secure global stability.
VOTED to accept the Resolution Regarding the Iraq Crisis as authorized by the Coordinating Council. (2 nays, 5 abstentions). The Resolution will be sent to Maine’s Congressional Delegation and to President Bush.
