1.  PILGRIM LODGE NEEDS VOLUNTEER HELP THIS SATURDAY
This coming Saturday, October 31 is the PL Fall Work Day.  This event will take place RAIN OR SHINE so be sure to bring a raincoat if necessary along with any tools that might be helpful. Wear brightly colored clothes as it is the first day of hunting season. Bring a bag lunch as we will be closing up the kitchen as well.  Arrive anytime after 8:30 am.  Work is usually done by 3 PM so you can get home before trick or treating begins.  Details and forms for young people can be found at www.pilgrimlodge.org/fallwork.html. Please come and help put Pilgrim Lodge to bed for its long winter's nap. Thank you!

2.  Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, U.C.C. welcomes Clarissa Stroud back for a workshop at Westbrook-Warren, 810 Main Street, on Saturday, October 31 from 9 am – 12 pm.  Seeing Ms. Stroud perform this past summer prompted Westbrook-Warren to invite her to lead a workshop for our community as well as any others interested in praising God through movement to music.  The workshop is free of charge and is open to anyone of ages 13-90+!  No prior dance experience is necessary.

Ms. Stroud studied at various studios and dance programs throughout the Washington, DC area and abroad to perfect the gift that God has given to her. She has ministered in dance throughout the United States and abroad in Europe and the Caribbean and is the Founding Artistic and Executive Director of Master's Movement Liturgical Dance Company.

Please contact Bonnie Wright  bwright@bts.edu or call 774-5212 x201 for more information.

3.  The 2009 Clergy Advent Retreat will be held on November 19 from 10 am to 3 pm, at First Parish in Yarmouth.  This will be a time to take a deep breath before the beginning of the busy Advent season.  Please call Beth Campbell at the Conference office, before Nov. 12, to let us know you will be coming.  A donation of $5 is requested for lunch.

4.  To all Association Scribes and/or Moderators – following your Annual Meeting, please send an updated list of your Association officers, and Maine Conference representatives to Sue at the Conference office.  I will update the Conference yearbook as soon as possible.  Thanks for your help and cooperation.

5.  I have been overwhelmed and deeply touched by the cards and notes from congregations, clergy, and church members that worked with in the years I was one of your Conference Ministers.  There is no way that I could answer them all but I want you to know that I have felt your care and support during these very difficult weeks. It has helped sustain me as I walk through this "valley of the shadow."  Paul says in Second Corinthians “God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we in turn may be able to comfort others in any trouble of theirs and to share with them the consolation we ourselves receive from God” (NEB) I thank you for the consolation that you have given me.  It has been a blessing in the midst of tragedy.
