1. First Congregational Church, Waterville, was the scene of a Special Meeting of the Maine Conference on Saturday, June 9. Showing outstanding support and participation, with nearly 250 delegates and visitors attending on a Saturday in June, the Maine Conference unanimously voted to call Rev. Susan Craig as their new Associate Conference Minister. Susan Craig lives in Greenwich, Connecticut where she has served the First Congregational Church, UCC of Old Greenwich as their Senior Associate Minister. Susan will begin her ministry in Maine in late August.

2. A special thank you to the First Congregational Church in Waterville and its staff and members, for sharing your beautiful facility with the Conference for our Special Meeting last Saturday. Your gracious hospitality, inspiring sanctuary, accommodating facility and friendly faces, always make it a pleasure to visit you in Waterville. Thanks again.

3. If you registered for General Synod in Hartford, you probably also purchased a Synod T-shirt. The t-shirts have arrived in Yarmouth (lots and lots of them). If you are traveling on one of the Conference buses, you will receive your t-shirt when you catch the bus. If you are not riding on a Conference bus, please stop by the Conference office and pick up your shirt, so we can all wear them on Saturday at “Synod in the City”

4. “What if we all paused for a moment of peace at noontime and pondered another world? What if the world we imagine is possible?”
These are the thought-provoking questions that singer-songwriter and United Church of Christ minister Jerry Leggett asked when he started his tour across the country in January of 2007. On the 50th anniversary of the United Church of Christ, Rev. Leggett travels to sing songs of peace with congregations across our country. The centerpiece of the tour will be rousing, live music performed by Leggett from an intimate sound stage, a converted, tear-shaped vintage RV, that has been christened "The Peace Bubble.”

The Peace Bubble will be in Maine on:
Friday June 29 at 6:30 PM. – South Portland, First Congregational Church UCC,
Saturday, June 30 - Bath, Library Park
Sunday, July 1 - Deer Isle, First Congregational Church
