1. This Saturday, June 9, is a very important and exciting day for the Maine Conference. Everyone is invited to attend a Special Conference Meeting to vote to call the Rev. Susan M. Craig as Associate Conference Minister for the Maine Conference. We will gather for the business meeting at 1 pm at the First Congregational Church in Waterville. Immediately following the business meeting, we will join in a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the United Church of Christ with, what planners describe as a very energetic worship service. After worship, we will gather to meet Susie Craig and enjoy fellowship together. Please bring finger foods to share with everyone at the reception. For more information, or directions to the church in Waterville, please visit our website at.www.maineucc.org

2. Calling all voices. We will be assembling a Conference choir to sing at the 50th Anniversary Celebration Worship in Waterville on Saturday, June 9. All singers should gather at the First Congregational Church in Waterville at 11:30 am, to rehearse. This will leave time for lunch before the Conference Meeting at 1:00 pm and the worship at 2:00 pm. The anthem will be Hymn # 593 from the New Century Hymnal. Please direct any questions to Alice Eaddy at office@wtvlucc.org

3. Resolutions Procedure for Annual Meeting is now available on the website. Check the area reserved for the 2007 Annual Meeting for the link to the process for submitting a resolution. Resolutions for consideration at the 2007Annual Meeting in September must be submitted to the Conference Office before August 1, 2007.

4. Due to recent relocations and resignations the State Youth Council (SYC) is looking to add two advisors to its ranks. Ideally they will both be female as the current advisors are both male. One of the new advisors has to be a clergy member in good standing with the Maine Conference of the UCC. The other may be a lay person. Below is a link to the SYC Advisor page. There you will find more information about what is involved in the Advisor position, and a downloadable application packet. If you're interested in helping the SYC, please download the application packet and return it by June 30. http://mainesyc.org/advisors.html

5. "Marriage in Maine: The Way Life Should Be" is the title of a presentation sponsored by Equality Maine, a group committed to marriage equality in our state. It will be held at the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church, 524 Allen Ave, Portland on Thursday, June 14th, at 10:00 am. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the issue of marriage equality. If you plan to attend, please RSVP Darlene Huntress, Equality Maine, at 761-3732 or dhuntress@equalitymaine.org
