5. Special Note to Smaller Churches

1. Annual Meeting is drawing closer and closer. The Official Call to the meeting, as well as the reports and resolution have been posted to the website. Please be sure to print copies for your church delegates.
We have received many registrations so far, but there is always room for more and everyone is welcome. You do not have to be a voting delegate from your church to come and hear what is going on around the state, the country and the world with the United Church of Christ. Don’t forget that the pre-meeting retreat is a chance to get away from everything, and learn how important it is to take care of yourself. Hope to see you at Sunday River on Sept. 27 – 30.

2. Dan Johnson, our Annual Meeting Organist and Choir Director, has chosen the anthems for our Sunday worship service, Sept. 30. If you have copies of Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia” and/or Harold Friedell’s “Draw Us in the Spirit’s Tether” that Dan and the Annual Meeting Choir could use over the Sept. 28 – 30 weekend, please contact Dan Johnson at 875-2800 or revdan@megalink.net

3. Stewardship Workshop for Clergy and Lay Leaders Offered in Bucksport on September 8th: The Elm Street Congregational Church UCC at 31 Elm Street in Bucksport is hosting a stewardship workshop "Ask, Thank, Tell" on Saturday morning, September 8th, 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. All are welcome to attend. Maine Conference Director of Local Church Resources, Annette Mott, will lead the workshop, which will explore key principles for good stewardship ministry in the congregation and three essential functions of that ministry. The registration fee of $10 per church pays for the cost of the workshop and a copy of the book "Ask, Thank, Tell" by Charles Lane, the primary resource used in this workshop. To register to attend, contact the Resource Center at 1-800-244-0937, resourcecenter@maineucc.org.

4. The Rev. Kim Murphy, pastor at Winthrop Congregational Church UCC, will be on Jeopardy! You'll be able to see her posing questions to answers on September 13. Rumor has it that she has already played the game and cannot tell us the outcome, but no matter what we certainly applaud her effort.

5. SPECIAL NOTE TO OUR SMALLER CHURCHES: If your church has less than 100 in worship, you're a small church. And someone at your church has a couple really neat photos of your church at play, work, or worship. You'll see your photo(s) and lots of other ones at Annual Meeting in Sunday River. Please send one or two to David Ray, at P.O. Box 57, Bristol, ME, 04539. For information, call him at 563-1032.
