1. Today is the DEADLINE for RESOLUTIONS to be presented at the 2007 Annual Meeting. Resolutions must be received in the Conference Office by 5 pm today to be considered.

2. Things are changing at the Maine Conference UCC this month.
a. June Boutwell’s last day in the office is Aug. 9. After that day, June’s e-mail will be forwarded to Sue at the Conference Office. Placement questions should be directed to Karen Erickson in West Gardiner, general questions should be directed to Sue Stevens or David Gaewski
b. Susie Craig’s first day in the Conference office is Monday, August 27. Susie will need to set up an e-mail address when she arrives, but until then e-mail for Susie can be addressed to conference@maineucc.org and will be forwarded to her when she arrives.

3. Now is the time to register for the 2007 Annual Meeting, to be held at Sunday River Grand Resort, Bethel on September 28 – 30, 2007. Registration and lodging forms, meals and workshop information, and other Annual Meeting stuff is available on our website at www.maineucc.org

4. How did your congregation follow up on the resolutions passed at last year’s Annual Meeting? We would like you to share what your church family did to follow up on the “Quality and Equality of Marriage” and the “Fair Trade/Fairly Traded Coffee” resolutions. Please send a brief (100 word) description of how your congregation acted on one of these resolutions, to Sue Stevens at the Conference Office. Sue will gather the responses together and post them on the Conference website for everyone to read. Several will be chosen to be read aloud during the “Speak Out’ sessions during the 2007 Annual Meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Sue at suestevens@maineucc.org or call the Conference Office.

5. The Small Church Mission Team is inviting any of our Conference churches which consider themselves "small" to send one or more photos of church life to be used as part of a presentation at this year's Conference Annual Meeting. Photos of people involved in typical church experiences are preferable to photos of church buildings with no people. Send to Rev. David Ray, P.O. Box 57, Bristol, ME, 04539, by
Sept. 1. Thank you!

6. The Resource Center is collecting a list of Maine Conference churches that are either currently engaged in a capital campaign or have completed a capital campaign within the past two years. We want to have this list available to share with churches considering undertaking a capital campaign. Please e-mail the Resource Center at resourcecenter@maineucc.org if your church has been involved in a recent campaign.

7. The State Youth Council (SYC) will be having a Beach Day at Rockcraft Retreat Center in Sebago on August 18 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Youth from all Maine UCC churches are invited to enjoy the beautiful waters of Sebago Lake, the fine accommodations of Rockcraft, and the fellowship of others. Details and the permission slip can be found at www.mainesyc.org

8. Please hold these pastors and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with the loss of a family member. Dorothy Anderson Good, mother of Jeannette Good, died Tuesday, July 24. Jeannette is the interim pastor at State Street Church in Portland. A memorial service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 4 at Sebago Center Community Church.
